Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon said Oct. 13 that the bank has no succession transition underway or timetable for one, addressing speculation about a possible leadership change.

Solomon said he and the board are focused on the company’s growth strategy and continuing to serve clients. He also said he was satisfied with Goldman Sachs’ progress and enjoyed his current work more as a result.

Speculation has suggested that Solomon could leave as early as next year, bringing renewed market attention to a potential leadership change. Goldman Sachs Chief Operating Officer John Waldron has long been viewed as a potential successor.

Solomon said there is no succession transition underway and no timetable for one.
