Super Micro Computer appointed Mark Long as senior vice president and chief financial officer effective Oct. 14, with a $725,000 annual base salary. The company announced the appointment Oct. 15. Long replaces David Weigand and will report to CEO Charles Liang.

Long’s offer includes a $500,000 sign-on bonus, subject to prorated repayment if he leaves before completing two years of employment. He will also receive a guaranteed $500,000 annual cash bonus, payable monthly or quarterly.

He is eligible for an additional annual performance-based cash bonus of $225,000 to $725,000. The terms for that bonus are still to be determined. Long is also eligible for a separate annual restricted stock unit bonus based on company performance and individual achievement; no amount was specified.

Subject to compensation committee approval, Long is expected to receive 120,000 restricted stock units and an option to buy 150,000 shares. Both awards would vest over four years, subject to continued employment and the award terms.

Long, 59, has been a principal of Prime Impact Capital since 2019. He was co-CEO and CFO of Prime Impact Acquisition I from 2020 to 2023. At Western Digital, he served as CFO from 2016 to 2019 and chief strategy officer from 2015 to 2019.

Weigand will help with Long’s transition into the role and focus on improving the business.
