Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao backed blockchain projects advancing worldwide as a Solana Foundation event in Shanghai was postponed, interrupting outreach in a country that has repeatedly banned crypto trading and mining.

“I am always supportive of any blockchain making any progress in any country,” Zhao wrote on X. His examples included Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), BNB, XRP, Solana (SOL), Hyperliquid (HYPE), Zcash (ZEC), SIGN and stablecoins.

The Solana Foundation has been expanding its presence in China. It opened an office in Shanghai and put up promotional billboards around the city. Zhao welcomed the move, saying Solana’s visibility could help other blockchain projects establish a presence in the market.

The foundation’s Shanghai community event, scheduled for Oct. 16, was postponed. In a separate comment, Solana Foundation President Lily Liu said registrations were roughly four times the expected number, creating logistical complications.
