Afentakis previously held a leadership role at Zodia Custody Europe. Bakkt is seeking regulatory authorizations as it expands in the region.

Bakkt has appointed Gerry Afentakis managing director for Europe as it seeks a stronger regional presence and regulatory authorizations for its digital asset business.
Afentakis previously held a leadership role at Zodia Custody Europe. He has more than 20 years of experience in fintech, and his work at Bakkt will focus on the regulatory and operational requirements of its European expansion.
Bakkt offers digital asset trading, custody and payment services. Its European plans come as the company pursues a 2026 total transacting volume goal of about $3 billion. It processed $410 million in the first half of the year.
Total transacting volume measures the value of transactions processed through Bakkt’s platforms. It does not represent revenue or profit.
