Schmidt and Amodei Anthropic Stake Estimates Span About Two Months
The estimates date from Aug. 18 and Oct. 19. Anthropic has not disclosed either person's ownership percentage.

Separate estimates put former Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s Anthropic stake at about 1% and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s at roughly 2%, but their dates preclude a confirmed comparison of current holdings.
Schmidt’s estimate dates from Oct. 19, while Amodei’s dates from Aug. 18, about two months earlier. Anthropic has not disclosed an ownership percentage for either person. The two figures therefore describe estimates made at different times, rather than a single snapshot of the company’s ownership.
Schmidt was among the investors Anthropic named when it announced a $124 million Series A financing round on May 28, 2021. The company disclosed the round’s total size but did not give Schmidt’s individual investment amount or ownership share. His participation in that financing alone does not establish how much of Anthropic he holds.
The distinction matters as Anthropic prepares for a potential IPO. The company announced a $65 billion Series H financing round on May 28, 2026, at a $965 billion post-money valuation. That valuation describes the company after the financing; it does not set an IPO offering price or determine what any shareholder would receive from selling stock.
On June 1, Anthropic announced that it had confidentially submitted draft IPO paperwork. It did not set the number of shares to be offered or their price. Any offering remains subject to regulatory review, market conditions and other factors.
An IPO valuation could provide a reference point for the paper value of a stake, but sale proceeds would depend on the holder’s ownership at the time and the shares sold. The separate estimates for Schmidt and Amodei do not establish either person’s current stake or the value of a future sale.
