Pershing Square CEO Bill Ackman said stocks could have a strong year in 2027 if conflicts involving Iran and Russia-Ukraine ease, potentially lowering energy costs and inflation pressure.

“We’re going to have an amazing 2027,” Ackman said in a televised interview Oct. 22. He described wars, inflation and interest rates as factors restraining a market he otherwise viewed as strong.

Ackman pointed to the possibility of a more favorable turn in Russia-Ukraine but did not say a peace agreement had been reached. He made his stock outlook conditional on conflicts easing; his remarks did not establish that energy prices or inflation would decline.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 3.7% higher over the 12 months ending in September. The CPI gasoline index rose 9.1% in September and accounted for more than half of that month’s CPI increase.

Oct. 20 closing spot prices were $107.89 per barrel for West Texas Intermediate crude and $115.22 for Brent. The Federal Reserve raised its federal funds target range by a quarter percentage point in September, to 3.75% to 4%, and said inflation remained elevated.
