David Schwartz Says XRP Captures Value From XRP Ledger Activity
In later replies, he pointed to XRP's counterparty-free acceptance and its role in paying transaction fees.

Ripple CTO emeritus David Schwartz argued that low fees and reliable operation drive value flow to the XRP Ledger, with XRP capturing some of that value through features tied to its role on the network.
In an Oct. 23 post on X, Schwartz wrote: “That drives value flow to XRPL. XRP captures some of that value because of its unique advantages over other assets on XRPL.”
In later replies in the discussion, Schwartz described XRP as the only counterparty-free asset any account on the ledger can accept. He also pointed to users needing XRP to pay transaction fees. Schwartz said auto-bridging is one way XRP captures value, while adding that the mechanism extends beyond that function.
The comments expand on Schwartz’s earlier argument that XRP demand is central to the XRP Ledger’s financial success.
