Nu Holdings Chief Technology Officer Eric Young plans to leave in November for an infrastructure role at Meta Superintelligence Labs, prompting an interim leadership arrangement at the financial technology company.

Young intends to resign and remain with Nu through Nov. 12 to help with the handover. CEO David Vélez will directly oversee Global Platforms while Chief Information Security Officer John Walton serves as interim co-lead. Nu has begun searching for a permanent CTO.

Young said, “I’ve decided to take a role leading infrastructure in Meta’s Superintelligence Labs.” Nu disclosed his planned departure on Oct. 23. Vélez, Nu’s founder and chairman as well as CEO, praised Young’s work: “I am very appreciative of the leadership Eric has provided for Nubank’s technology function.”

Nu said the personnel change leaves its strategic priorities intact, with technology and artificial intelligence still central. Young became CTO in August 2025 after Vitor Olivier planned to leave the role following more than 10 years. Young is expected to remain with Nu through Nov. 12.
