Tim Draper Calls Satoshi Nakamoto an Optimist in Bitcoin Post
His Oct. 26 post also cited his No. 76 ranking among 250 living American optimists and used the phrase “a trusted 3rd party in software around Bitcoin (BTC).”

Venture capitalist Tim Draper called Bitcoin (BTC) creator Satoshi Nakamoto an optimist in an Oct. 26 post, tying the praise to Draper’s No. 76 position among 250 living American optimists.
Draper wrote that “optimists do everything that drives progress.” He described Nakamoto as “an optimist, willing to transform the entire global economy with a trusted 3rd party in software around Bitcoin.”
He pointed to Hotmail, Skype, Tesla and SpaceX as businesses he said had drawn skepticism.
Bitcoin’s 2008 white paper proposed online payments directly between people without a financial institution. Satoshi Nakamoto’s paper outlined a peer-to-peer system using proof of work to address double-spending, or spending the same digital funds more than once. It said transactions could occur “without the need for a trusted third party.”
Draper’s post did not explain what he meant by “trusted 3rd party” in software.
