Birch Hill Names Jonathan Thomas to Lead Vault Curation

Birch Hill named Jonathan Thomas to lead vault curation and assigned three former Yearn staffers to its Birch Hill Absolute Value strategy, adding experienced leadership across the New York company’s onchain credit business.

Thomas previously worked with Yearn’s team on strategies built using its v3 vault standard. Brad Schlagel, portfolio manager and head of strategy architecture, previously led development of Yearn v3. Ian Plosker will serve as portfolio manager and head of platform engineering, while Alex Cornwell will lead capital formation after previously handling business development at Yearn.

Traver Normandi will head business development at Birch Hill after working in institutional business development at Gauntlet. The appointments bring experience in vault development, portfolio management, platform engineering, capital formation and business development to the company’s credit operations.

Birch Hill announced the appointments in a post on its official account. Separately, the company announced a $4 million seed round on Oct. 28, led by Multicoin Capital, with ParaFi Capital, Castle Island Ventures and Nascent participating. Based in New York, Birch Hill evaluates, structures and distributes credit on public blockchains. Its Vaults division serves as an official curator for Morpho, a lending protocol, assessing credit and setting risk parameters for vaults and markets. The company’s Strategies division builds onchain credit products, including Birch Hill Absolute Value.
