OpenAI Hires Uber Executive Jill Hazelbaker as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer

OpenAI has hired Jill Hazelbaker, Uber’s president and chief corporate affairs officer, to oversee the AI company’s global communications and corporate positioning in a newly created role.

Hazelbaker’s final day at Uber is scheduled for Nov. 30, 2026. She has spent more than a decade at the ride-hailing company, where she led global teams covering marketing, communications, policy and safety.

Before joining Uber, Hazelbaker held senior positions at Snap and Google. She also served as national communications director for Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.

At Uber, Hazelbaker managed communications during founder Travis Kalanick’s departure. Her move to OpenAI follows a career spanning corporate communications and politics.
