Middleby Names Steven P. Spittle President Ahead of 2027 CEO Handoff
The move follows a 51% sale of Middleby’s Residential Kitchen unit and a July spin-off of its Food Processing business as Midera.

The Middleby Corporation elevated Chief Commercial Officer Steven P. Spittle to president Thursday, Nov. 5, naming him as its next CEO as the company continues a shift toward commercial foodservice.
Timothy J. FitzGerald is to leave the CEO post at the handoff, and Spittle is also expected to join Middleby’s board. The company’s portfolio changes this year included selling 51% of its Residential Kitchen operation to 26North in the first quarter of 2026. A July spin-off moved the Food Processing business into Midera.
Spittle’s Middleby career began in 2010, and he became chief commercial officer in February 2021. Earlier, he led Pitco Frialator as president from April 2015 to March 2017, then took group leadership of Pitco and G.S. Blodgett through February 2021.
His employment agreement sets annual base pay at $850,000 beginning Nov. 5, 2026, and allows him to earn bonuses through management incentive programs. Chairman Gordon O’Brien said, “The Board is confident that Steve is the right leader for what comes next.”
Spittle is scheduled to take over as CEO and join the board on April 1, 2027.
