U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance announced at Bitcoin 2025 in Las Vegas that the Trump administration is prioritizing a pro-innovation regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency industry. Addressing a crowd of 35,000, Vance emphasized that establishing a clear market structure bill is essential to fully integrating crypto into the U.S. economy and safeguarding its future from potential regulatory rollbacks.

Vance warned that without decisive action, the U.S. risks losing the $3 trillion crypto industry to more favorable jurisdictions. He stressed the need for Congress to act swiftly, highlighting the pending GENIUS Act — a stablecoin bill — and urging lawmakers to soon shift focus to comprehensive market structure legislation.

Criticizing the previous administration, Vance declared that “Operation Chokepoint 2.0” and the SEC’s “regulation by enforcement” era under former Chair Gary Gensler are over. He stated, “We fired Gary Gensler, and we’re going to fire everybody like him,” signaling a sharp pivot to crypto-friendly policies under President Trump.

He credited early crypto supporters like the Winklevoss twins and Coinbase for backing the campaign and encouraged the industry to stay politically engaged beyond 2024. Vance also noted the election of other pro-crypto politicians, such as Sen. Bernie Moreno, as a sign of the industry’s growing influence.

Touching on emerging technologies, Vance urged bitcoiners to pay close attention to developments in artificial intelligence. He emphasized the intertwined futures of AI and blockchain, stating that Bitcoin’s role in shaping AI discourse is critical to ensuring innovation benefits the American public.

The Trump administration’s stance reflects a strategic effort to position the U.S. as a global leader in crypto innovation while aligning digital asset policy with national economic goals.
