U.S. Plans To Invite Putin To Miami G20 Summit In December
The Dec. 14-15 summit will take place at Trump National Doral in Miami. Putin’s attendance has not been confirmed.
The United States plans to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Miami in December, creating a potential setting for talks with President Donald Trump amid continuing geopolitical tensions.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Sept. 23 that Putin’s participation could provide an “opportunity” for discussions with Trump and other world leaders after Rubio met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The summit is scheduled for Dec. 14-15 at Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida. Putin’s attendance has not been confirmed.
Russia remains a member of the G20, and Putin last attended a leaders’ summit in person in 2019, when the meeting was held in Osaka, Japan. The United States is hosting the leaders’ summit for the first time since 2009.
