U.S. Weighs Overseas Push for Dollar Stablecoins to Support Reserve Status
The proposal could use joint ventures with private companies to expand dollar stablecoin activity and increase demand for U.S. Treasuries.

The U.S. government is considering an overseas push for dollar-denominated stablecoins to reinforce the dollar’s reserve-currency role and increase demand for U.S. Treasuries.
The proposal could support stablecoin-related businesses through joint ventures with private companies. The Treasury Department, State Department and DFC may participate in those efforts.
Expanding the use of dollar-denominated stablecoins overseas could extend dollar-based payments beyond domestic markets and increase demand for U.S. Treasuries.
The initiative remains under consideration.
