U.N. Finds Reasonable Grounds for U.S. War Crime in Iran School Strike
The mission said a Feb. 28 strike on a Minab school killed more than 150 people, including at least 123 children.
The United Nations-backed Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran said Sept. 17 that there were reasonable grounds to believe U.S. forces committed a war crime in a Feb. 28 strike on a school in Minab that killed more than 150 people, including at least 123 children.
The mission said the school was clearly identifiable and that U.S. forces failed to take all feasible steps to verify whether it was a military objective.
The strike involved Tomahawk missiles and occurred beside an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps naval complex.
The United States has not publicly accepted responsibility for the strike. The State Department rejected the mission’s conclusion.
