U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the United States and China reached agreements covering selected goods, with the Trump administration set to release more details Monday, Sept. 28.
The arrangements include U.S. agricultural products and medical devices, as well as Chinese consumer goods considered non-sensitive. The goal is to give some products more favorable trading terms and potentially shield them from future tariffs.
The planned announcement adds a narrower area of progress to negotiations between the world’s two largest economies. Their broader trade relationship remains unsettled over tariffs and other restrictions.
The two governments previously extended their trade truce and delayed the tariff negotiation deadline to Jan. 10. That extension postponed the next major tariff milestone but did not resolve the wider dispute.
Greer said the administration wants to define areas of trade that can remain insulated from future tariff actions or broader disagreements. The Monday release is expected to outline what negotiators have accomplished in recent weeks.
