China and the United States reached an eight-point consensus that includes $30 billion in reciprocal tariff reductions, a strategic stability framework and a new artificial intelligence dialogue channel.
The agreement calls for bilateral relations based on respect, fairness and reciprocity. The two governments also agreed to support each other’s hosting of APEC and G20 meetings, tying the package to major forums for trade and global economic coordination.
The leaders further agreed that Iran should fulfill its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons. The arrangement also recognizes the role of the existing China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism.
The artificial intelligence channel will create a dedicated route for communication between the two countries on AI-related issues. Together with the tariff arrangement, it places trade and emerging technology inside a broader effort to stabilize bilateral relations.
