Saudi Arabia is calling for the Strait of Hormuz to return to its prewar status, with unrestricted navigation and no fees or other limits.
Foreign Minister Faisal said the waterway must be restored to the conditions in place before Feb. 28. He also urged protection of freedom of navigation through international waterways.
Saudi Arabia linked the strait's status to global energy security and international trade stability.
The call was made during the United Nations General Assembly.
