A Democratic majority in either chamber of Congress after the November midterm elections could open investigations into business dealings tied to Donald Trump and his family, including cryptocurrency, prediction-market and investment ventures.

The inquiries could also examine companies that have provided funding for White House projects. Some investigations could begin as soon as February 2027, although no final list of targets has been established.

1789 Capital, a venture capital firm involving Trump Jr., is among the businesses mentioned. Crypto companies linked to the Trump family could also face scrutiny.

Control of the House or Senate would give Democrats more committee resources for investigations and subpoena authority. Republican Sen. John Curtis has previously called for an investigation into some of Trump Jr.’s business relationships.

The potential investigations would add congressional oversight of the Trump family’s commercial interests in cryptocurrency, prediction markets and investment businesses. The next major step would come after the November midterm elections, when control of either chamber is determined.
