Rubio Orders Iranian Delegation to Leave the United States
The move followed stalled U.S.-Iran talks and limited progress from Qatar-led mediation efforts to end the war.

Rubio ordered Iran’s United Nations delegation to leave the United States after diplomatic talks stalled, underscoring the growing strain between Washington and Tehran as efforts to end the war failed to produce a breakthrough.
The Iranian officials, including Araghchi, left New York hours after the order. They boarded a flight to Doha at 1:20 a.m. ET Tuesday (05:20 UTC), bound for Qatar.
Qatar had been trying to mediate between the United States and Iran, but the discussions made little progress. Neither side was willing to compromise, adding to tensions after the United Nations General Assembly ended.
The expulsion order was unusual even though the delegation may have been preparing to leave the country soon. It followed Rubio’s view that the Iranian officials had overstayed after the General Assembly concluded.
