Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the Strait of Hormuz could reopen within seven days if the United States accepts a proposed plan, potentially easing a major chokepoint for global oil shipping.

Araghchi described the proposal as a “seven-day plan.” The statement makes reopening conditional on U.S. acceptance; it does not establish that an agreement has been reached or provide a start date for the seven-day period.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and is a key route for oil shipments. The next step depends on whether the U.S. accepts the proposal.
