Vivek Ramaswamy’s Ohio governor campaign launch put taxes and education at the forefront, leaving cryptocurrency out of the announcement even as his campaign website accepts crypto donations.

At the Feb. 24, 2025, launch, Ramaswamy called for eventually eliminating Ohio’s income tax, reducing property taxes, expanding school choice and linking teacher pay to merit. The announcement did not mention cryptocurrency.

His 2024 presidential campaign took a different approach, promoting a crypto policy framework focused on developers’ ability to code, self-hosted wallets and protections for crypto projects from what he called regulatory overreach. He also opposed central bank digital currencies and promoted Bitcoin mining.

In the governor’s race, Ramaswamy has emphasized affordability and data-center costs. He has proposed requiring new facilities to cover nearby residents’ electricity costs. His campaign website also describes property-tax relief as part of its data-center plan.

On Sept. 17, 2026, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s office announced that customers could pay fees and services with cryptocurrency.
