The crypto-mixing proposal remains listed as a notice of proposed rulemaking, while records confirm the separate unhosted-wallet proposal drew more than 7,500 public comments.

The unhosted-wallet proposal would have required banks and money services businesses to report certain transactions involving unhosted wallets, keep related records and verify customers. It received more than 7,500 public comments.

The separate proposal on crypto mixing remains listed as a notice of proposed rulemaking. The records reviewed do not establish that it was withdrawn.

The proposals addressed anti-money-laundering requirements for parts of the crypto ecosystem, including transactions involving wallets held outside financial institutions and services that mix crypto transactions.
