Japan Updates Crypto Warning List Naming IZAKA-YA and Bybit

The list compiles previous warnings and does not indicate the operators’ current business status. IZAKA-YA was warned Sept. 1 over services for Japan residents.

Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) updated its warning list for unregistered crypto-asset operators Wednesday, naming IZAKA-YA, Bybit and other operators in a compilation of previous warnings.

The list does not indicate the operators’ current business status. It records earlier warnings involving companies that provided crypto-asset trading services to Japan residents without the required registration.

IZAKA-YA received a warning Sept. 1 over unregistered crypto-asset trading services for Japan residents. The company announced Sept. 17 that it would stop serving Japan residents.

Bybit received warnings in May 2021, March 2023 and November 2024. The FSA reiterated that overseas companies also must obtain Japanese registration before providing crypto-asset trading services to Japan residents.
