The International Monetary Fund completed El Salvador’s second and third program reviews, releasing $139 million under the country’s $1.4 billion financing program.
The latest approval included a waiver related to the country’s Bitcoin holdings.
El Salvador is not expected to accumulate additional Bitcoin beyond documented donations. The country is also expected to improve transparency around public Bitcoin holdings.
The disbursement follows completion of the two program reviews.
