Elizabeth Warren Calls for Ban on Presidential Crypto Access Sales
The Massachusetts senator said presidents should not auction access for profit from cryptocurrency dealings, citing corruption and financial-integrity risks.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren called for legislation to prohibit the president from auctioning access for profit from cryptocurrency dealings, arguing that such arrangements could create corruption and financial-integrity risks.
Warren said legislation should safeguard the integrity of presidential cryptocurrency dealings. Her call follows congressional scrutiny of President Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency-related income and holdings.
Trump’s 2025 financial disclosure listed more than $1.4 billion in cryptocurrency-related income, including proceeds tied to CIC Digital, World Liberty Financial token sales, equity sales and Stablecoin Holdco.
The issue comes as lawmakers debate crypto legislation. The Senate blocked the CLARITY Act from advancing in a 49-50 vote, with Democratic objections including ethics, consumer protection, illicit finance and market integrity.
Warren previously led a request for a public Senate Banking Committee hearing on prediction markets and sought a Government Accountability Office review of staffing and enforcement capacity at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
