Coinbase has secured clearing registration with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, expanding the exchange’s regulated infrastructure for crypto-related derivatives and clearing services in the United States.

The registration allows Coinbase to clear trades under the CFTC’s oversight. The agency regulates derivatives and commodities, including contracts tied to cryptocurrencies.

The move gives Coinbase a broader role in regulated digital-asset markets as the company expands services connected to trading and settlement. It also places the exchange within a wider push to integrate stablecoins into financial-market infrastructure.

Banks and payment companies are backing stablecoin initiatives aimed at settlement, adding momentum to efforts to connect digital assets with traditional financial systems. Coinbase’s registration adds a regulated clearing function to that evolving market structure.

Coinbase is a major cryptocurrency exchange that provides digital-asset trading and related services. The registration marks a regulatory milestone as it expands its presence in U.S. crypto markets.
