Ukraine’s president said he would accept an energy ceasefire if Russia agrees, after President Donald Trump announced one had been reached.
Ukrainian President Zelensky said Ukraine will agree to an energy ceasefire if Russia accepts the arrangement, adding uncertainty to the status of President Donald Trump’s announcement that the two countries had reached one.
Zelensky said Trump’s ceasefire statement was unexpected to him. He added that Ukraine would support the measure if Russia agrees to the same terms.
Trump had earlier announced that Russia and Ukraine had reached an energy ceasefire.
The announcement places energy infrastructure and broader geopolitical risk back in focus for markets.
