Sberbank Wins Approval to Offer Bitcoin, Ether and USDT Trading
Russia’s largest bank plans to launch the service Dec. 1 through SberBank Online, SberInvestments and SberBusiness, subject to final regulatory rules.

Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank, has received approval to provide cryptocurrency trading, clearing a regulatory step for its planned Bitcoin, Ether and USDT launch in December.
The Bank of Russia listed Sberbank among 10 authorized cryptocurrency-exchange operators and six digital-custody institutions on Oct. 13, 2026. The listing places the state-linked lender inside Russia’s new regulated framework for digital-asset services.
Sberbank plans to begin offering Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and Tether’s USDT on Dec. 1 through SberBank Online, SberInvestments and SberBusiness. The bank has already tested purchases, sales, deposits and withdrawals in its main banking app.
The launch date remains tied to the central bank’s remaining rules for the market. Russia’s framework, which took effect Sept. 1, allows regulated cryptocurrency trading and custody but continues to bar crypto payments for goods and services.
