CryptoUK has proposed using biometric verification to simplify Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures for crypto users who have already completed identity checks, potentially reducing repeated document reviews when they open new accounts or wallets.

Under the proposal, previously verified users would not need to repeat full document checks. Instead, they could complete a biometric verification step as part of the process.

Crypto users often face repeated verification when opening new accounts or wallets. CryptoUK’s proposal is intended to reduce that duplication while retaining verification through biometrics.

The proposal would not itself change KYC requirements. Its adoption would depend on whether the approach is accepted and implemented within the crypto sector.
