The Czech National Bank warned Oct. 13 about fraudulent emails misusing its name and CzechInvest’s name to solicit funds through a fake cryptocurrency trading scheme.

The emails promise recipients returns from supposed algorithmic trading profits. The messages also use counterfeit licensing confirmations to make the offers appear legitimate, but the central bank did not issue those licenses.

The Czech National Bank is the Czech Republic’s central bank and oversees financial stability and financial-sector regulation. Its warning highlights a broader risk for crypto users who receive investment solicitations by email.

Recipients should verify the authenticity of communications and confirm whether an entity is registered through the JERRS database, which tracks authorized financial-market firms in the Czech Republic.
