The White House is exploring ways to add Bitcoin to the U.S. strategic reserve, Executive Director Patrick Witt said, describing asset management work that precedes any potential additions.

“We've gone to work with trying to properly safeguard, account for, and custody these assets,” Witt said in an interview with Lark Davis. He said the administration would then explore ways to add to the stockpile and strategic Bitcoin reserve.

Witt did not specify how the government might acquire more Bitcoin or provide a timeline. His remarks describe exploration of possible additions, not a confirmed purchase or policy change.

The comments place safeguarding and accounting for existing assets ahead of decisions about expanding the reserve.
