Spain's Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV), the country's securities market regulator, opened a consultation Oct. 15 on a draft circular that would expand its complaints framework to cover crypto-asset and crowdfunding service providers. The existing framework applies to complaints involving investment services.

The draft would also let the CNMV update complaint and inquiry forms without changing the circular itself. It would reflect a new department focused on investor protection, fraud prevention and financial education, and revise outdated legal references.

The proposed text includes non-sexist language in administrative wording. The changes remain proposals while the consultation is open.

Written comments are due Nov. 16. The CNMV plans to publish submissions after the consultation closes. Respondents who do not want their comments, or specific portions of them, made public must expressly request that treatment and identify the material they want withheld.
