The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approved a security plan for LIS Technologies’ Oak Ridge, Tennessee, test facility, advancing the facility toward a security clearance for the company’s uranium-enrichment work.

The Standard Practice Procedures Plan (SPPP) covers security controls for a restricted area intended to protect classified material associated with the company’s CRISLA-4G laser process. LIS Technologies submitted the plan Feb. 11, 2026; the NRC found it met 10 CFR Parts 25 and 95 and 32 CFR Part 117.

LIS Technologies accepted an initial shipment of uranium hexafluoride (UF₆) for work at its Oak Ridge demonstration facility.

NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. invested $2 million in LIS Technologies in 2024 and is named as a preferred customer for enriched UF₆ under a partnership agreement. The companies intend for LIS Technologies to supply the material to NANO at no cost, with compensation through a profit-sharing arrangement still to be agreed.

“The path to a facility security clearance runs through exactly this kind of demonstrated discipline,” said Christo Liebenberg, president and co-founder of LIS Technologies.

The security plan will take full effect after a successful NRC operational readiness review. LIS Technologies has identified obtaining a facility security clearance as its next step.
