PhotonPay has received an electronic money institution (EMI) license from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), allowing the payments company to issue electronic money and provide related services within its approved scope.

The authorization adds a local regulatory base as PhotonPay builds financial infrastructure in the UK and Europe.

The license follows PhotonPay’s Sept. 30 partnership with DFNS, which connects wallet infrastructure with PhotonPay’s platform for cross-border payments involving fiat currencies and stablecoins.
