Anavex Life Sciences Corp. investors who acquired securities during a period covered by a proposed class action have until Nov. 30, 2026, to ask a federal court for lead-plaintiff status.

The proposed class covers investors who bought or acquired Anavex securities from Nov. 26, 2025, through Aug. 28, 2026. In a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the plaintiffs allege that Anavex had inadequate controls and understated regulatory risks linked to alleged conduct by former Chief Executive Officer Christopher Missling. The plaintiffs also challenge Anavex’s statements about its business, operations and outlook, claiming they were misleading or lacked a reasonable basis.

Mar. 25, 2026, fell within the proposed class period; that day, Anavex withdrew its European Union marketing application for blarcamesine as an additional treatment for adults with early Alzheimer’s disease. The European Medicines Agency’s (EMA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use had indicated it could not issue a positive opinion at that time. Anavex’s special committee terminated Missling for cause on Apr. 30, citing conduct it believed was “inconsistent with Company policy.”

A material weakness led Anavex to conclude that its internal control over financial reporting and disclosure controls and procedures were ineffective as of Sept. 30, 2025. The reassessment did not result in a misstatement of previously issued annual consolidated financial statements. The company’s auditor issued an adverse opinion on the effectiveness of its internal control over financial reporting.

Investors seeking appointment as lead plaintiff have until Nov. 30, 2026, to ask the court for the role.
