South Korean Exchanges to Seek Fourth Delay of 22% Crypto Tax
The tax is scheduled to begin in January 2027. A ruling-party proposal would move the start to 2029, but another delay has not been decided.

Five major South Korean crypto exchanges plan to push for another delay to a 22% tax at a government meeting Tuesday, Oct. 20, as the policy’s scheduled January 2027 start approaches.
The meeting is set to gather industry views on cryptocurrency taxation. The exchanges intend to use it to seek a fourth postponement of the tax.
South Korea has already delayed the policy three times. A proposal from the ruling party would move its start date to 2029.
The proposal has not settled the matter. Whether the tax will be postponed again remains undecided.
