Hyperliquid Labs CEO Jeff Yan said U.S. access to the platform depends on regulators understanding on-chain technology and assessing whether it aligns with the CFTC’s core principles.

In comments on Thursday, Oct. 15, Yan said Americans who use a VPN to access Hyperliquid violate its terms of service. He described compliant access as requiring regulators to understand how on-chain technology works and evaluate it against the agency’s principles.

Yan pointed to a public verification check: anyone can compare total user balances with the USDC held at a particular address. He said that kind of transparency could help regulators recognize the technology’s benefits.

The comments follow Yan’s earlier case for financial firms to use Hyperliquid’s shared blockchain infrastructure while keeping their customer relationships.
