Dylan Brodeur testified about operating an Ethereum node in New York as federal prosecutors sought venue in the Southern District of New York for a crypto theft case involving more than $50 million.

Brodeur ran the node from 2021 to 2023. Investigators identified him by comparing IP information tied to an Etherscan account he used to check node rewards with Verizon network records.

Federal prosecutors contacted Brodeur in September 2026 about where he had operated the node. He testified for about 10 minutes and confirmed its New York location. Prosecutors sought that testimony to support trying the case in the Southern District of New York.
