Poland Charges Nine in Money Laundering Case Tied to Crypto Scams
The alleged operation involved 337 million zlotys from online scams between February 2025 and July 2026.

Polish prosecutors have charged nine people with money laundering and participation in an organized criminal group in a case involving 337 million zlotys allegedly linked to online scams.
The alleged operation ran from February 2025 through July 2026. The scams included cryptocurrency investment schemes and cases in which people posed as representatives of investment platforms.
Couriers allegedly delivered cash to cryptocurrency exchange offices, where it was allegedly processed without required anti-money laundering checks. Funds also moved through bank accounts, and some cash was carried abroad. Fictitious gold purchases allegedly helped disguise transfers. Most of the money was ultimately placed in cryptocurrency.
The suspects are eight Ukrainian citizens and one Belarusian citizen. Seven are in pretrial detention. The other two face financial guarantees, police supervision and restrictions on leaving Poland.
Authorities seized cash and gold worth more than 1 million zlotys, along with electronic devices. The suspects face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The investigation is continuing.
