Mt. Gox Extends Creditor Repayment Deadline to Oct. 31, 2027
Court approval gives trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi another year to complete base, early lump-sum and intermediate repayments.

Mt. Gox has extended its creditor repayment deadline by one year to Oct. 31, 2027, leaving more time to resolve unpaid claims after years of delays.
Rehabilitation trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi made the change with court approval. It covers base repayments, early lump-sum repayments and intermediate repayments.
Payments are largely complete for creditors who finished the required procedures and had no processing problems, although some payment categories remain outstanding. Many others remain unpaid because they did not complete the required steps or encountered problems during payment processing.
The extension marks Mt. Gox’s fourth annual one-year deadline delay since 2023. The exchange, once among the world’s largest Bitcoin (BTC) platforms, collapsed in 2014 after a large-scale Bitcoin theft. Repayments in BTC and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) began in 2024 and had reached more than 19,500 creditors by March 2025.
An earlier blockchain snapshot of addresses labeled as related to the Mt. Gox estate showed 34,387.51 BTC. The revised deadline for the three repayment categories is Oct. 31, 2027.
