The UK announced missions to help Saudi aircraft defend against drones and missiles from Yemen’s Houthi movement in September; the missions had been completed by Oct. 12.

The plan includes RAF Voyager aircraft for air-to-air refueling and existing UK air-defense equipment. The missions are intended to help Saudi aircraft counter incoming attacks, rather than carry out strikes against Houthi positions.

Saudi Arabia faces pressure from Houthi forces as other countries consider military support for the kingdom. Egypt has approved a troop deployment to support Saudi Arabia, though its presidency has not publicly confirmed deployment details.
