The SEC will continue accepting public comments after the stated deadline for its “Reg Crypto” proposal on Wednesday, Oct. 21, keeping feedback open beyond the scheduled close as it considers new fundraising exemptions for crypto issuers in the United States.

An SEC spokesperson said the commission would keep taking comments after the period ends. The extension applies to public input on the proposal; the date marks the end of the stated comment period, while public feedback can still reach the commission afterward.

The proposed exemptions are aimed at crypto issuers seeking to raise capital in the United States. The rules would establish exemptions those issuers could use while raising capital, making the proposal relevant to companies seeking U.S. funding.

Comments accepted after Wednesday would still concern the same proposed rules and the exemptions they would establish. The stated comment period ends Wednesday, but the SEC said it would continue accepting comments on the proposal afterward.
