Lighter plans to apply for CFTC approval of its on-chain perpetual futures exchange in November, seeking a U.S. regulatory path as its token rose more than 22%.

The decentralized trading platform disclosed the plan during a third-quarter investor call. It aims to become the first on-chain perpetual futures exchange to gain approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Lighter founder Vladimir Novakovski said his team has been in contact with regulators for about 11 months. The company has set November 2026 for its application, following that period of contact with the regulator.

Lighter (LIT) traded at $3.89 in an Oct. 22 market snapshot, up 22.26% over the preceding 24 hours. The gain came as Lighter outlined its regulatory plan, with the application itself still scheduled for next month.

Lighter already offers perpetual futures through Robinhood Chain, and Lighter Core has more than 1 million accounts. Its next stated step is to submit the CFTC application in November.
