Lighter Plans November CFTC Derivatives Filing as LIT Rises More Than 22%
Founder Vladimir Novakovski said the company has been in contact with regulators for about 11 months. LIT traded at $3.89 in a market snapshot.

Lighter plans to apply to the CFTC for a U.S. derivatives license in November, moving its on-chain perpetual futures platform toward formal regulatory review as its token rises.
The company disclosed the plan during its third-quarter investor call. Lighter founder Vladimir Novakovski said the team has been in contact with regulators for about 11 months. Lighter aims to become the first CFTC-approved decentralized exchange for on-chain perpetual futures, a market where traders use contracts without a fixed expiration date.
Lighter (LIT) rose 22.26% over 24 hours to $3.89 in a market snapshot accompanying the disclosure. The price marks a point in time; the company has announced a filing plan, not a regulatory approval.
Lighter already offers perpetual futures trading through an integration with Robinhood Chain. Lighter Core has more than 1 million accounts. Those operations are in place while the U.S. license application remains a future step.
Lighter’s next stated step is to submit the application to the CFTC in November 2026.
