Coin Center amplified Laz Pieper’s response to U.S. Treasury regulations under the GENIUS Act. The social media post concerns the law’s implications for payment stablecoin issuance.

The GENIUS Act became law July 18, 2025. It sets federal rules for payment stablecoin issuers, including reserve, redemption, supervision and enforcement requirements.

Payment stablecoin issuers operating in the United States generally must qualify as permitted issuers starting Jan. 18, 2027.
