David Hoffman reposted a Lighter compliance update and wrote, “Lighter season back on btw,” as the platform pursues two U.S. derivatives licenses.

At Lighter’s third-quarter investor call, Hoffman, who took part as an investor, asked whether the designated contract market (DCM) and derivatives clearing organization (DCO) licenses could be approved before the CFTC’s 180-day review period.

Lighter founder and CEO Vladimir Novakovski said preliminary discussions with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) could make the licensing process smoother. He cited the agency’s workload as a reason the company could not provide a firm timeline, while saying he expected the process to go smoothly because the CFTC team moves quickly.
