Thailand’s Crypto ETF Rules Took Effect, but No Asset Managers Have Applied
Several asset managers have consulted the regulator about spot Bitcoin and Ether funds. The SEC says it is too early to know whether the first products will be approved by year-end.

Thailand’s rules for locally listed spot crypto ETFs took effect Oct. 16, but no asset management company had applied to establish a fund, the country’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said. The framework allows local asset managers to create spot funds for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) listed on Thailand’s stock exchange.
Several asset managers had consulted the SEC about launching the products. The agency did not identify the firms.
The SEC said it was too early to know whether the first products would receive approval by the end of 2026. Timing depends on applicants’ preparation, regulatory review and investor-protection requirements.
