South Korean Industry Proposes Exchange for Crypto and Tokenized Assets
The proposed venue would cover four asset categories and retain category-specific safeguards. Amendments to two securities laws are scheduled to take effect Feb. 4, 2027.

South Korea is developing a legal framework for tokenized securities as industry participants propose an integrated exchange spanning crypto assets, tokenized securities, real-world assets and stablecoins.
Earlier proposed rules for tokenized securities would set a $2.8 million capital floor for some firms and cap retail purchases on each licensed platform. Amendments to South Korea’s Electronic Securities Act and Capital Markets Act are scheduled to take effect Feb. 4, 2027.
The proposed venue would retain investor protections and disclosure requirements for each asset category.
